Time Management Tips to Help Reduce Stress

Time management tips is helpful to reduce stress. Is your never-ending to-do list causing you to feel stressed and overwhelmed? If so, you are not alone. It’s almost normal nowadays for people to rush and proclaim that there “aren’t enough hours in the day”. Stress in small amounts can be good for you, but large amounts of stress caused by time management issues is not healthy. So, here are 5 tips you can use to help manage your time better and reduce your stress levels.

1) Use a list

A to-do list may not seem all that helpful, but physically putting down everything you need to do on a page can really help you visualize each task and determine roughly how much time you are going to need to complete each task.  Learn how to create a time management plan and refer to this often.

2) Take regular breaks

You can only work on something for so many hours in a row before you start to lose focus. When you lose focus, your work rate slows drastically. So, if you have been sitting at your desk or computer, trying to finish something for the last hour or two, simply take a break and come back to it or move onto something else. Even a 10-minute break can really help revitalize your energy and help you focus on getting your task done.

3) Set clear time limits

A lot of people sit down to do work thinking “I am going to sit here and work until this project is done.” That mindset is problematic. Instead, you should set a clear time limit and try your best to do as much work within that limit. Sit down and say to yourself “I am going to work on this project for 2 hours and then take a break.” The self-imposed time constraint will help you stay focused.

4) Make use of weekends and days off

A lot of people try to play catch-up on weekends. This is fine to do in moderation, but doing so regularly means you’ll never get a break. Breaks are necessary to recharge your batteries and to give yourself time for self-care. Make sure you make that a priority. You DO have enough time, it’s all about your attitude and planning.

5) Get enough sleep

Your sleep routine can make a huge difference to how much you get done and how good you feel about it. Constantly staying up late to get everything done isn’t going to help in the long term, so start prioritizing sleep. Eventually you could even try to set up a new morning routine where you get up early to take care of yourself and get a head start on your day.
